Start with the look and daily use
LVP and laminate can both be considered when you want a coordinated plank-floor design. Compare actual samples for color, texture, board dimensions and appearance beside your furnishings. Then discuss the rooms, traffic, pets and care routine the flooring needs to accommodate.
Avoid deciding from the category name alone. The useful comparison is between the exact collections in your short list, their product documents and the proposed installation for your space.
Check water and wear claims individually
Republic publishes separate warranty terms for its specified SPC products and for non-waterproof, non-SHARC laminate. Shaw also publishes terms for qualifying waterproof laminate. That difference is a reason to inspect the exact warranty rather than assuming every laminate has the same moisture limitations or every LVP covers the same events.
Waterproof product wording does not establish that the room is waterproof. Check covered exposure, exclusions and care requirements. Do not assume a floor is scratch proof. Ask what the selected manufacturer's scratch-resistance claim actually covers.
Compare the proposed installation
Ask which installation system applies to each finalist and which product instructions will govern the work. Discuss the existing surface, preparation identified for the project, adjoining floor heights and transitions. Underlayments and installation details should follow the selected system rather than be transferred from another product.
Put the room list, exact collection and installation scope beside each quote. Confirm what is included and how changes will be agreed if project conditions require more work. This makes an affordable selection easier to evaluate than a material-only price.
Build a short list you can explain
Choose a few options that meet your priorities and record why each remains on the list. Include appearance, documented performance, maintenance and complete project cost. Bring those questions to an estimate or a showroom appointment rather than trying to choose from broad promises.
Our Products page introduces the current categories, and the Republic catalog can help you review product and color details. A catalog entry is not a stock or room-suitability guarantee. Request confirmation for your chosen product and project.
